PCSO’s Update

A14 Westbound – There was a collision between a lorry and a car on the westbound A14 near Galley Hill at 7:00 am on Tuesday 16th January. One lane of the road was blocked for a time but fortunately no-one was reported to be injured. (Ref CC-16012018-0057)

A14 Hemingford Abbots – There was a pile-up involving four cars on the A14 near Hemingford Abbots just before 2:00 pm on Wednesday 17th January. Police managed to get all of the cars off the carriageway and onto a slip road, and an ambulance was called to treat some persons who sustained slight injuries. One driver who was found to be without any valid insurance was reported and the car seized and towed away. (Ref CC-17012018-0056)

Potton Road, Hilton – Police received a report of an incident that happened at a farm on Potton Road, Hilton, just before 2:00 pm on Wednesday 17th January. Two men in a white van pulled in to the farm yard and asked the owner if they could take some scrap metal from a container in the yard. They became threatening and verbally aggressive when the owner repeatedly told them ‘no’ and took a photograph of them. Police issued an alert for patrols to be on the look-out for the suspect van whilst further enquiries were made. (Ref CF0031950118)

A14 Hemingford Grey – Thieves cut through the side curtain of a lorry parked in a lay-by on the A14 near Hemingford Grey at some time during the night of Wednesday 17th / Thursday 18th January, and stole goods from inside. At the moment details of what was taken are not known. (Ref CF0033430118)

Barnfield Road, Papworth St Agnes – Police received several calls reporting a car in the ditch just off the A1198 at the turn-off to Papworth St Agnes at 5:00 pm on Thursday 18th January. Its hazard warning lights were on but there was no sign of the driver. Police arranged for the car to be towed away as it was causing a distraction to motorists on the main road. A14 Hemingford Abbots – Another lorry was broken into whilst it was parked in a lay-by on the A14, this time overnight on Thursday 18th / Friday 19th January, near Hemingford Abbots. The side curtain was cut and diesel fuel was siphoned from the tank. No more details are available at the moment. (Ref CF0036270118)

Lattenbury Lane, Hilton – Police received a report of suspected hare-coursers on land off Lattenbury Lane, near Hilton, mid-morning on Monday 22nd January. Three men with dogs had been spotted in a field with an off-road vehicle. Police issued an alert to patrols in the area to keep an eye out for the vehicle, and also notified Countryside Watch. (Ref CC-22012018-0132)
