Cold Callers Wanting to Discuss Energy Bills
There have been three incidents across the St Ives district in recent weeks of cold-callers knocking on doors, wanting to come into the house and discuss energy bills or changing energy providers with the home-owners. At the moment insufficient information exists to be able to check if the callers are genuine or not. They could be checking properties out with a view to committing a break-in at a later date.
Police advice is never to admit cold-callers to your house, opening your door only on a security chain or a similar device to anyone you do not recognise and always carrying out an independent check of any credentials they may offer. Never buy from cold-callers or accept their offer to carry out any work on your house or garden – always use companies you know or that have been personally recommended to you.
